NECA was founded to offer professional leadership to people who counsel in an employment service or career development setting or to those employed in related areas of counselor education, research, administration or supervision. Our members come from a diversity work settings including private practice, business and industry, community agencies, colleges, universities, federal, state and local government.

• Encourages the professional development of those counseling in an employment or career development setting.
• Promotes the use of job information tools and techniques to better serve the client.
• Contributes to the advancement of the field through research.
• Examines legislation and issues influencing employment counseling, career choices and job opportunities.
